The Classic Film Union Mentoring Program

The Classic Film Union Mentoring Program

Founded with the intention of getting more members to post more literature and be comfortable doing so with the advisement of older members. New members will seek advice about site navigation, providing encouraging support, and making the Classic Film Union a more respectful, intellectually engaged and friendly community.

One thing we could do is suggest privately to conflicted members to resolve the situation privately, but in a courteous way.

Maybe we should write something about how one solves a conflict, or at least how one can do that without getting the whole site involved. Basically "if you have a problem with someone, shoot them a private message and discuss."

I think we need to be reminded of that very nice golden rule, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all". I'm not against disagreeing with someone but saying hurtful things can be avoided. When someone posts a negative blog about the things people post on her, well, instead of commenting on it, we can just pretend it doesn't exist. Part of the problem is some people just like to create drama on this site because they can't get enough of it from the movies. If we all just remember to stay positive and be nice, I don't think there needs to be a peer mediation group. Like I said in my blog post, if we just simple stay away from the drama and try to nip it in the butt in the first place, a blog explaining how to treat other members isn't needed. We can't tell other people how to treat others but we can change how we treat others. If we do all this, I think the site will be in great shape.

For the sake of preventing further incidents from happening, is there a way we can encourage respect and tolerance, maybe even acceptance?

Sorry,I missed this Question.Well,I don't really know. There should not have to be mediation here.I guess I'd start there. Some people are better than others at it.I prefer respect and tolerance. If you have just one of these, you do not need mediated reasoning.
